SNMB Thyroid Seminar 2026

A scientific seminar titled “Advances in Thyroid Disease Management: Updated Protocols for Thyroid Cancer, Thyrotoxicosis and Standardized Reporting of Thyroid Nodules by Nuclear Medicine and Ultrasound” was successfully organized by the Society of Nuclear Medicine Bangladesh (SNMB) in collaboration with the Bangladesh Thyroid Society (BTS) on 9 February 2026 at the Prof. Dr. Kamaluddin Ahmed Auditorium, NINMAS, BMU Campus, Shahbag, Dhaka.

The inaugural session began with welcome addresses delivered by Prof. Dr. Faria Nasreen, President of SNMB, and Prof. Dr. A.K.M Fazlul Bari, President of BTS and Director of NINMAS. They emphasized the importance of updated, evidence-based protocols and multidisciplinary collaboration in improving thyroid disease management in Bangladesh.

The Scientific Session, moderated by Prof. Dr. Hosne Ara Rahman, featured three comprehensive presentations. Prof. Dr. A.K.M Fazlul Bari discussed updated protocols for thyrotoxicosis, highlighting advancements in diagnostic algorithms and radioiodine therapy. Prof. Dr. Zeenat Jabin presented current strategies in thyroid cancer management, focusing on risk stratification, individualized treatment planning, and follow-up protocols. Prof. Dr. Jasmine Ara Haque addressed standardized reporting of thyroid nodules using nuclear medicine and ultrasound, underscoring the need for structured reporting systems to enhance diagnostic accuracy and interdepartmental communication.

An interactive panel discussion followed, with distinguished experts from nuclear medicine, endocrinology, oncology, ENT and fetomaternal medicine contributing valuable insights. The seminar concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Prof. Dr. Nasreen Sultana, General Secretary of BTS.

The seminar was attended by a large number of physicians, specialists and trainees. It provided a dynamic platform for academic exchange and strengthened professional collaboration in advancing thyroid disease care in Bangladesh.
