Annual Activities 2017
The 22nd National Conference of the Society of Nuclear Medicine, Bangladesh was successfully held in BRAC CDM, Rajendrapur, Gazipur, Dhaka on 24-25 February 2017. It was attended by 160 participants including SNMB members, SNMB Associates, SNMBT members, accompanying persons, trade delegates as well as guests and volunteers. The inaugural session was on 25 February. Architect Yeafesh Osman, Hon’ble Minister, Ministry of Science & Technology, Gvernment of The People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as chief guest. Professor Henry Bom, Chairman, ARCCNM and Dr Md Monzurul Haque, Chairman BAEC was present as special guests. Dr. Kamrun Nahar, Director, INMAS,Sylhet received the prestigious “Young Scientist Award” this year. Dr. Farid Uddin Ahmed, Ex Director, INMAS, Rajshahi received the ‘Life Time Achievement Award” for his contribution towards the development of Nuclear Medicine. This year there were five foreign dignatories who delivered their valuable lectures in the plenary sessions. The participants were immensely benefited from the lectures of plenary sessions addressed by renowned nuclear medicine specialists from abroad as well as local learned speakers. There was a PET session consisting of five lectures encompassing various aspects of clinical application in PET. There was a special session titled “Development and Promotion of Nuclear Medicine” consisting of six lectures which depicted different aspects regarding education, training and role of Nuclear Medicine Society in the development of skilled Nuclear Medicine personnel. The participants also shared their scientific research works through the thirteen proferred oral presentations. The AGM was held on 24 February, 2018. This year the new executive body for the term 2017-2018 was formed where Prof. Dr Raihan Hussain was elected as the President and Prof. Dr. Faria Nasreen was elected as the General Secretary of SNMB. Amidst the lavish green of BRAC, CDM the evening was offerred with nice relaxation as the Gala dinner and cultural show took place. The raffle draw took place to add enjoyment and laughter. It was a pleasure for us to have your whole-heartedly support and full cooperation to hold and make success this great event.
A course on “Nuclear studies in Urology” was jointly organized by SNMB and Bangladesh Association of Urological Surgeons which was held on 18th April in Milon auditorium, BSMMU. Four speakers from NINMAS, Dhaka delivered their lectures.
Prof Dr. Raihan Hussain delivered lectures on Nuclear Cardiology in a seminar organized by INMAS,Mymensingh and SNMB on 27 April, 2017
Prof. (Dr.) Faria Nasreen, General Secretary, SNMB received “Fiedel Castro Award 2017” on 29th April, 2017 from Protection of Rights Bangladesh (PRB) for her managerial skills and contribution towards health sector.
2017 ANMAF and 3rd Asian Nuclear Medicine Academic Forum was held on 11-13 May, 2017 in Shanghai China. Dr Mahbubul Hoque was awarded the 1st prize for poster presentation on thyroid. There were 10 participants from Bangladesh.
Dr. Zeenat Jabin, Principal Medical Officer of National institute of Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences (NINMAS) is currently in study leave from BAEC availing a Ph.D scholarship from Chonnam National University, Gwangju, South Korea. She took part in the 5th Brain Korea 21 symposium held on 20-21 September’ 2017 in Kumho Marina Resort, Tongyeong and orally presented her research works in the graduate session and received certificate as the “Best oral presenter” of the symposium.
The 12th AOCNMB was held in Yokohama, Japan on October 5-7 , 2017. There were six participants from Bangladesh. Dr Pupri Mutsudee, SMO, NINMAS successfully received the FANMB certificate this year .
